Written by Department of information and public relations

On November 4, 2025, a press tour of Belarusian NPP was held for representatives of the media and expert community from the Republic of Kazakhstan. The event was timed to coincide with a significant date – the fifth anniversary of the connection of the first power unit of BelNPP to the country's unified energy system – and served as a platform for discussing prospects for cooperation, exchanging experiences, and exploring modern nuclear technologies.

The delegation from Kazakhstan had a unique opportunity to gain a detailed understanding of the plant's training center. They studied the operating personnel training system using simulators at the central and unit control centers, which ensure high-quality training and continuing education for the NPP personnel. They also toured the information center, which, as a source of information for a wide audience, is crucial for forming an objective opinion about nuclear energy.

A key part of the program included discussions of a wide range of issues of mutual interest. Particular attention was paid to BelNPP's operating experience in accordance with IAEA international safety standards, modern technologies for storing and processing radioactive waste, monitoring environmental impacts in the NPP area, international cooperation and exchange of experience with nuclear power plants in other countries, and collaboration with the State Corporation “Rosatom”.

Participants in the press tour also discussed the role of Belarusian NPP as a city-forming facility, the impact of its construction on the region's economy and energy security, and the development of the satellite city of Ostrovets.

The visit to Belarusian NPP provided the Kazakhstan delegation with a unique opportunity to gain objective, first-hand information and witness the high level of technological equipment, personnel competence, and commitment to safety principles. This visit will help convey to the people of Kazakhstan the advantages of nuclear technology, the potential for ensuring the country's technological sovereignty, and the positive impact of the nuclear power plant on the well-being of local communities and the region as a whole.
