Decrease in capacity of cross-border power grids by Lithuania will not affect the energy system of Belarus

Written by Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Belarus

The decision of the State Energy Regulatory Council of Lithuania to reduce the capacity of cross-border power transmission lines in the Lithuanian-Belarusian direction will not affect the operation of the energy system of Belarus.

The measures taken by Lithuania affect commercial relations in electricity trade with third countries. The Lithuanian side has repeatedly announced its intentions to restrict commercial electricity supplies through cross-border transmission lines with Belarus, so the decision was expected. At the same time, the Belarusian side has not yet received official notifications from the Lithuanian regulator.
