The head of the ministry visited Vasily Tarasenko at Borisov central regional hospital, where he is improving his health. The minister had a warm conversation with the veteran, heard about the most significant events of the war for him, presented gifts to him.
Vasily Tarasenko participated in many battles of the Great Patriotic War, showed real courage and valour, he was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, two Orders of the Red Star, two medals "For Military Merit", medals "For the capture of Konigsberg" and "For victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945".
“I think there is no family in Belarus that was not affected by the war. We know very well at what cost peace and independence were won, we are proud of the valor and courage of the war heroes, we express our deep gratitude and respect to our veterans,” Viktor Karankevich noted.
“It is our duty to surround them with attention and care. Communication is no less important for them - especially with young people, the opportunity to share memories, give advice and guidance. This is the continuity of generations, the guarantee that our youth will preserve the memory of the Great Victory, value peace, protect their land, be proud of their homeland,” the Minister added.
For veterans, this is the most important thing - understanding that you are remembered and appreciated, that they know the truth about the war. This gives them strength.
Organizations of the Ministry of Energy system traditionally take part in events dedicated to Victory Day, congratulate veterans, lay flowers at monuments and obelisks to those who died in the Great Patriotic War, the head of the Ministry of Energy said.
“The feat of Soviet soldiers in the war is our pride, an example to follow, on which many more generations will be brought up,” he stressed.
The same day Viktor Karankevich took part in the action “Belarus remembers. He remembers everyone ”, in the framework of which, together with the leadership of the State Production Association“ Belenergo ”, the State Production Association “Beltopgaz” and the State Energy Supervision Service, he laid flowers at the Military Cemetery in Minsk.
