The Lithuanian Prime-Minister Does Not Exclude The Holding Of a New Referendum On The Visaginas Nuclear Power Station

Written by

The head of the Government Andrius Kubilius, who is also the representative of the conservative party “Homeland Union (Conservatives of Lithuania’’) does not exclude, that there will be organized a new referendum on building “Visaginas” nuclear power station.

According to his opinion, the second referendum should be hold only when “all the details of the new project will be find out”. “Perhaps, after all the numbers for the building of the nuclear power station will be inquired in a more detail way, in a few years we can ask people opinion again”,- said the politician in his interview to the Lithuanian radio station “News Radio”. “I think first we must wait for the new Government and Seim (Parliament) and then have a conversation, but not to suppose during the elections”-he added. We remind, that during the referendum that took place 14 October only 34,07 % of the participants supported the building of the new station, when 62,70% were against (tentative data).
