At the first power unit of Belarusian NPP, the stage of spillage of the systems on the open reactor was completed

Written by Department of information and public relations

In the reactor compartment of the first power unit of Belarusian NPP, one of the most important stages was completed - the spillage of active and passive safety systems to an open reactor (general designer and general contractor of the structure - ASE, Engineering Division of the State Atomic Energy Corporation "Rosatom").

The spillage phase was carried out in order to check the permeability of the pipelines connecting the primary circuit equipment and their post-assembly cleaning from possible mechanical impurities. During the process, chemically demineralized water was spilled in the system of emergency cooling of the core and pressure compensator, cleaned the pipelines of the purge-make-up system, and flushed the equipment and pipelines of the system of emergency and planned cooling down, passive heat removal system from the core. In total, the process involved 26 technological systems associated with the first circuit.

Currently, experts have begun to build the reactor. These works are carried out in the framework of preparation for the next important stage - hydrotesting and circulation spillage of the reactor compartment pipelines at elevated parameters.

Belarusian NPP with two VVER-1200 reactors with a total capacity of 2400 MW is being built according to the Russian project of generation 3+, which fully complies with international standards and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) safety recommendations.
