The section of world energy news reports on trends in the gas markets of Europe and Asia, the development of renewable energy in England, China, Japan and innovative technologies in solar power.

The central material of the issue is an interview of the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Belarus V. Karankevich ("Priorities" section). The Minister assesses the state of the energy sector of the republic, examines certain aspects of the development of nuclear and renewable energy, identifies the challenges facing the industry at the present stage of development.

An article of the First Deputy General Director of the State Production Association “Beltopgas” A. Zhilko is dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the gas industry in Belarus and tells about the history of its formation, innovations used in the modernization of the industry, and the prospects for the development of gas supply.

"Electric Power Industry" section is opened by an article on the use of low-voltage voltage stabilizers (STN). It also publishes the second part of the article on the calculation of technical and economic indicators of the IGCC.

In the section “The Notebook of the Main Power Engineer,” energy supervision experts remind the requirements regarding the choice of valves installed at the input to the heating system, clarify safety issues when working with an electric welding apparatus, justify the expediency of using idling limiters and give the most typical scheme of their operation.

The article published in the “Gas supply” section, is devoted to the analysis of the practice of using mobile devices in the work of gas households in Belarus. The “Labor Safety” section is represented by an article that examines the state of electrical injuries in the electric power industry, the implementation of the Complex of measures for the prevention of occupational injuries in the organizations of the State Production Association Belenergo for 2018, and also analyzes the functioning of labor protection management systems in the branches of  RUP-regionalnergo.

The issue also publishes comments to the two standards of the State Production Association Belenergo: STP 33240.03.356-18 “Rules for the explosion safety of fuel feeds and installations for the preparation and burning of dusty fuel”, introduced instead of the same name STP 09110.03.356-07, and STP 33240.20.117-18 “Digital Substations. Requirements for design "(heading" Standardization in the energy sector "); in the “Law” section, an overview is presenter of the new legislation that came into force or was adopted in September – October of the current year.
