World nuclear power in 2019

According to the International Atomic Energy Agency, there are 453 nuclear power reactors in the world with a total capacity of 399,370 megawatts.

The world leader in the number of operating reactor installations is the USA - 98 reactors, with a total capacity of 99,333 MW. In Europe, the leader in the nuclear power industry is France - 58 reactors, with a total capacity of 63,130 MW.

Of all the types of reactors, the leading positions are occupied by PWR (VVER in Russian classification).

The leader in the construction of new nuclear reactor installations is China - 11 reactors, with a total capacity of 10982 MW.

In total, 55 nuclear power reactors are under construction in the world, with a total capacity of 56,643 MW.

The most common type of reactors under construction are also PWR reactors - 45 plants with a total capacity of 48,200 MW.

Belarusian NPP is being built according to Russian project with two VVER-1200 reactors with a total capacity of up to 2,400 MW.
